The Force Was With Bodnars For Oct. 7 Sale
“Star Wars” Collection Sells For Over $55,000
November 05, 2021
Jedi master Joe Bodnar, owner of Bodnars Auction, was very pleased with the Oct. 7 sale results. With over 5,000 registered bidders from all over the world, the force was with this impressive single-owner collection. The collection of both Star Wars and Star Trek items spanned the past 40 years and was in pristine condition like the day it came off the shelf in the toy store. The collection came from a Chicago estate, where the daughter reminisced that her father would send her to the toy store to pick up the latest Star Wars toy, then wrap a plastic bag around each one, not letting her open them, and stash them away. Online only, the sales highlight prices of the vintage toys were a Star Wars X-Wing Fighter, Kenner 1978, selling for $2,478. A Star Wars Land Speeder, Kenner 1978, sold for $1,888; a rare Star Wars Light Saber, Kenner 1977, inflates to 35 inches, $1,091; and a Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Millennium Falcon, Kenner 1981, sold for $4,425. A Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett 3.5-inch action figure, Kenner 1980, sold for $4,130, and a Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Luke Skywalker 3.75-inch action figure, Kenner 1980, sealed on card, realized $1,298. Prices reported include an 18-percent buyers premium. Bodnar conducts online-only estate collection auctions every other week, with all lots starting at $10 with no reserves.
