By Karl Pass - July 17, 2020

Kleinfelters Auction Inc., of Lebanon, Pa., held a multi-consignor online-only sale the afternoon of June 28. The diverse sale had early tin toys, advertising, china, baseball cards, canes, local ephemera largely associated to Schaefferstown, Lebanon County, and much more. Some rare early broadsides, ledger books, local ephemera, indentures, deeds, books, and taufshein sold. Two ledger books outlining Samuel Rexs arrival in Schaefferstown from Germantown in 1789 went for $1,356. An early land deed signed by Alexander Shaeffer (founder of Schaefferstown) printed in Philadelphia (1758) sold for $508.50, and an excellent hand-drawn taufshein fraktur for Christian Ulrich realized $1,356. A very rare and early Ephrata press broadside sold for $1,017, and although not local, an 1846 travel book, Route and Distances to Oregon and California, sold for $5,424. Some very good Leeds, Spatter, and Gaudy Dutch china sold, along with some early Breininger redware. An 8-inch diameter redware plate reading L.B. Anno 1971 from the Breininger Pottery of Robesonia, Pa., sold for $327.70. A fine spatterware cup and saucer in thistle pattern with a yellow and red border brought $480.25.
