Enterline Conducts Benefit Auction For Pennsylvania National Fire Museum

The Pennsylvania National Fire Museum in Harrisburg, Pa., was smoking hot with bids during the July 9 evening auction conducted by Enterline Auction Service. The sale featured 226 lots of firefighting antiques, collectibles, and memorabilia from various consignors that sold to a packed house. The buyers premium as well as proceeds from a concurring pig roast went to the museum, which is in the process of raising funds to replace its air-conditioning system. Robert Enterline oversaw the benefit auction, which was organized by current Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) auctioneering program student Brian Enterline. The auction grossed $57,735. Prices reported are hammer prices and do not include a 15-percent buyers premium. Among the sale highlights was a mid-1800s presentation front shield from the New York City Fire Department that sold for $6,100. An array of collectible fire helmets, belts, trumpets, lanterns, and other items all from various eras sold. Prices reported in photo captions are hammer prices.
