Embassy To Hold Quality Sale On Oct. 29
Fine Art, Indigenous Carvings, Fine Furniture, And Military Collectibles Among Categories To Be Offered

On Thursday, Oct 29, in Kinzers, Pa., Embassy Auctions International will auction a rare pair of Ifugao/Igorot wooden carved tribesmen. These ca. 1900 Northern Luzon, Philippines, carvings of a 6-foot tall hunter and huntress with their companion dogs are finely carved mahogany, complete with weaponry, standing upon a circular fluted plinth. Along with these fine carvings will be many other exceptional pieces, including a pair of impressive antique cast-iron male lions perfect for an estates entryway; an Eastern Electric 1947 Electro cigarette vending machine; a 4-foot Robert Wood & Co. Philadelphia cast-iron lawn jockey, ca. 1900; a rare turn-of-the-century FX Ganter, Baltimore, Md., L shaped countertop glass showcase; and two fine antique Japanese Samurai swords. Also to be sold will be a James Fraser (1876-1953) bronze plaque of Theodore Roosevelt and a signed 1967 Dwight Eisenhower letter to opera star Lauritz Melchior with a photo of the president. A 20th century cigar store Indian with full headdress, a J & E Stevens Indian shooting a Bear mechanical bank, a Metropolitan Railway handpainted red fire bucket, and six handpainted wood carnival wheels, ca. 1930s-40s, are also among the expected highlights. Numerous pieces of fine furniture will include a Kittinger two-piece cherry high chest, a Kittinger cherry slant front desk, a Kittinger pair of side tables, an English marble top mirrored wash stand, a marble top mirrored hall stand, jelly cupboards, a painted bucket bench, primitive cupboards, blanket chests, and more. Artwork will include a Rinaldo Rinaldi 1849 alabaster nude figure of a woman, a TE Francis oil-on-canvas titled Harwell Berks, an S. Allyn Schaeffer 1957 oil-on-canvas landscape, and a Charles Henry Reynolds (1907-63) oil-on-panel titled Iris dated 1939. Several fine 19th century miniature handpainted portraits will aalso be available. In the military category, an original photograph of Gen. Blackjack Pershing inspecting the troops taken at Coblenz on the Rhine is in the sale, as is a good 45-star U.S. flag (1896-1908), book sized with Panama Canal provenance. The diverse auction will start at 9 a.m. with many box lots, tools and fishing gear.
