Abner Zook Covered Bridge Winter Scene Diorama Brings $17,000

Witman Holds Large Sale At Lebanon Fairgrounds

Witman Auctioneers Inc., Manheim, Pa., held an auction on Nov. 12, at the Lebanon Expo Center at 80 Rocherty Road in Lebanon. It was a diverse sale with contemporary folk art, old cars, firearms, pottery, and much more. The following prices were realized and include a buyers premium: An Abner Zook, 1990, three-dimensional diorama covered bridge winter snow scene sold for $17,000. Abner Zook (1921-2010) and twin brother Aaron (1921-2003) were Amish visual artists known for elaborate three-dimensional diorama sculptured paintings. The work from both of them is highly collectible today. Two Aaron Zook three-imensional circular diorama bird plates sold for $1,540 each. A Conestoga covered wagon with team of horses, made by relative Joel Zook, realized $5,500. A 1976 Ford Mustang Ghia sold for $14,850, and a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 Sedan, $13,200. A Ruger M77 rifle with scope sold for $633; a Sako Forester bolt action rifle, $550, and a Military SKS 7.62 bolt action rifle realized $468. Ned Foltz (Reinholds, Pa.) is a redware potter working in the Pennsylvania German tradition. A Foltz Santa and reindeer went for $231; a Foltz Santa and sleigh, $209; and Foltz Santas sold for $198 each. To learn more, call Witman Auctioneers at 717-665-5735.
